Google Ads Dedicated Account Strategists – Should You Trust Them?

If you ever get a call or email from someone claiming to be your “dedicated account strategist” or from some performance team at Google do yourself a favor and hang up.

Who are these GoogleAds representatives / strategists?

These Google Ads representatives are likely contractors paid a low hourly wage hired for the sole purpose of getting you to spend as much of your money as quickly as possible. They’re likely very new in their professional careers and know less about GoogleAds than you do as Google does not hire these people to better serve you but to better serve their bottom line.

Is any of the advice they offer good?

No, not for you (unless you’re Google and this is explained in the next section). These representatives will want you to change your settings so that keywords automatically get added to your account, assets automatically created, and all sorts of other nonsense. You don’t want your ad showing to every person on Google but rather showing to the RIGHT audience.

Why does Google do this?

Google is a business and GoogleAds, specifically, brings in A LOT of revenue to their organization.

Can I opt out of Google calling me?

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a way to opt-out of them contacting you. Asking to be put on a do no contact list has not stopped the harassment as each quarter there’s a new representative contacting you. Blocking their number also doesn’t help as each representative is calling you from a different number.

I’m not sure how its legal, but they don’t even give you an opt-out option which is required by U.S. law. Make no mistake, this is spam.

So where can I get advice or help on my GoogleAds account?

There are a lot of great resources, including our site here. If you’re looking for an expert or GoogleAds coach to take a look at your account – you can reach out to our team.
