Things I’d Change About GA4: My Google Analytics Wish List

GA4 is definitely different. Some things are great, others not so much. Here are the top 3 things I’d like to see in Google Analytics GA4.

Annotations

This is such a valuable resource. You can easily find important events to explain certain data points like if the site crashed or the tracking code fell off. Please, Google, fix your mistake. I’ll forgive you.

Editable dates

The explorations are cool but it’s such a pain that you can’t change the dates of a report unless you’re the creator. I’d love to see this function like dates in LookerStudio. The dates can default to what the owner set it as but anyone can play with the dates. Let us play, Google.

Previewing data changes

With Universal Analytics we could preview changes in data before implementing a new filter or changing a goal. That was a nice feedback loop to my anxiety. I would love to see this type of feature when modifying an event.

Here’s hoping that by the time you read this that these have all been added as features.
